I Am So Thankful God Watches Over Me

One morning I was working in my home office, writing music. I heard a big bang and assumed it was the oil company coming to fill up our oil tank. A moment later I heard a voice yelling at our little dog, Missy, “Shut up dog”.

I suddenly realized that there were intruders in my house. I sprang to my feet and let out a yell with an intensity that I had never heard before. I yelled, “GET… OUT… OF… MY… HOUSE’. As I was yelling, I ran to our front door just in time to see three men jumping over each other to get out of the house.

When I got to our front window, I saw a Volvo parked out front and the three guys looking up at me. When I saw one of the guys reach into his jacket for what looked like a gun, I quickly retreated to the kitchen, dialled 911 and then walked to the front window so that they could see I was phoning the police. They jumped into the car and quickly left.

Talk about an intense couple of minutes. The adrenalin was definitely pumping!!

The next week we read in the news that a neighbour, just a few blocks away, had surprised some burglars and had been shot. That could have been me. But God!

In Psalm 91, David writes

This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God, and I trust Him….

If you make the Lord your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, no evil will conquer you; For He will order His angels to protect you wherever you go.

The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love Me. I will protect those who trust in My name. When they call on Me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honour them.

I am thankful that my Heavenly Father watches over me. I have felt God’s protective hand over me many times and I am so thankful for the angels that He has sent to protect me. Thank you, God!
