When Saul of Tarsus met Jesus on the road to Damascus, everything changed. One encounter with the living Christ transformed him from a persecutor of believers into one of the greatest ambassadors of the Gospel. In Acts 22:14–16, Paul recalls those life-altering words spoken to him:
“Then he told me, ‘The God of our ancestors has chosen you to know His will and to see the Righteous One and hear Him speak. For you are to be His witness, telling everyone what you have seen and heard. What are you waiting for? Get up and be baptized. Have your sins washed away by calling on the name of the Lord.’”
This moment reveals three powerful truths about the kind of faith that is born when we truly meet Jesus and receive His mission for our lives.

1. Faith Begins with Revelation
Ananias told Paul, “God has chosen you to know His will and to see the Righteous One.”
Faith doesn’t start with human reasoning—it starts with revelation. When God opens our eyes to see Jesus as the Righteous One, everything else comes into focus. Saul’s old beliefs and ambitions instantly lost their grip. His encounter with Jesus gave him a new perspective, a new identity, and a new purpose.
When we truly see Jesus—not just hear about Him, but see Him through the eyes of faith—our hearts awaken to the reality of who He is and who we are called to be.
2. Faith Leads to Mission
God didn’t just reveal Himself to Paul for Paul’s sake. He said, “You are to be His witness, telling everyone what you have seen and heard.”
True faith always overflows into action. When you meet Jesus, you can’t help but share what He’s done in your life. Faith isn’t meant to stay private—it’s meant to go public.
Each of us, like Paul, has a unique story that testifies to God’s grace. You don’t need a dramatic Damascus Road moment to have a testimony; if you’ve met Jesus, you have a mission. Whether it’s in your workplace, your family, or your neighborhood, God calls you to bear witness to what you’ve “seen and heard.”
3. Faith Responds with Obedience
“What are you waiting for?” Ananias asked. “Get up and be baptized.”
Faith doesn’t just believe—it acts. Paul immediately obeyed. He rose, was baptized, and began a new journey of following Jesus. Faith that meets Jesus is not passive; it’s decisive. It moves from hearing to doing, from knowing to going.
When God reveals His will, the right response is not hesitation but obedience. Delayed obedience often becomes disobedience. The question still echoes to every believer today: What are you waiting for?
Final Thoughts: A Personal Encounter That Changes Everything
Meeting Jesus is never just a spiritual experience—it’s a divine appointment that redefines your entire life. Like Paul, you are chosen:
- To know His will,
- To see the Righteous One,
- To hear His voice, and
- To be His witness in your world.
When faith meets Jesus, life takes on eternal purpose. The same Savior who transformed Saul’s mission can transform yours.
So today, pause and ask yourself:
Have I seen Him clearly?
Have I heard His call?
And am I living out the mission He’s given me?
Because once you’ve met Jesus, the only right response is to rise and follow.
