God Knows

“O LORD, You have examined my heart and know everything about me.” — Psalm 139:1 (NLT)

There is something deeply comforting about those two simple words: God knows.

Life often leaves us with questions that have no easy answers. We wonder why certain doors close, why suffering comes, why prayers seem delayed, or why people misunderstand us. In those moments, we may not know what God is doing—but we can rest in the fact that God knows.

He knows every detail of our lives.

He knows our joys and our sorrows. He knows the prayers we have whispered and the tears we have shed. He knows our hopes, our disappointments, our fears, and our dreams. Nothing catches Him by surprise.

Psalm 139 paints one of the most beautiful pictures of God’s intimate knowledge of His children. David writes that God knows when we sit down and when we stand up. He knows our thoughts before we think them and our words before we speak them. He knows where we go and where we rest. There is nowhere we can go where His presence is absent.

God doesn’t simply know about us—He knows us.

That truth can be both humbling and reassuring.

It is humbling because we cannot hide behind appearances. We may fool other people, but we will never fool God. He sees our motives as clearly as our actions. He knows the hidden attitudes of our hearts.

Yet this same truth is wonderfully reassuring.

God knows our weaknesses, yet He loves us anyway.

He knows our failures, yet He offers forgiveness.

He knows our limitations, yet He chooses to use us.

He knows every chapter of our story before it unfolds.

When you feel forgotten, God knows.

When you feel alone, God knows.

When you feel overwhelmed, God knows.

When you don’t know what tomorrow holds, God already does.

This is why believers can walk through uncertainty with confidence. Our peace is not based on knowing everything ourselves; it is based on trusting the One who does.

Isaiah reminds us:

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the LORD. “And My ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.” (Isaiah 55:8)

God sees the entire picture while we see only one small piece of the puzzle. What appears to us as confusion may actually be preparation. What feels like delay may be God’s perfect timing. What looks like defeat may become the doorway to His greatest blessing.

Nothing in your life is outside His knowledge.

He knows your family situation.

He knows your financial pressures.

He knows your health concerns.

He knows the decisions you are wrestling with.

He knows the burdens you carry that no one else sees.

Most importantly, He knows exactly what you need today.

Jesus encouraged His followers with these words:

“Your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask Him!” (Matthew 6:8)

Our prayers do not inform God; they invite us into relationship with Him. We pray, not because He lacks information, but because He desires our trust.

Today, if your heart is troubled, remember these two words: God knows.

He knows where you have been.

He knows where you are.

He knows where He is leading you.

And because He knows, you can trust Him.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You that nothing in my life is hidden from You. Thank You for knowing my heart, my needs, and my future. Help me to trust You even when I don’t understand what You are doing. Give me peace in knowing that You are always present, always faithful, and always working for my good and Your glory. Amen.
