“So all who put their faith in Christ share the same blessing Abraham received because of his faith.”
Galatians 3:9 (NLT)
One of the greatest questions people ask is, “How can I receive God’s blessing?” Many believe the answer lies in trying harder, doing more good deeds, or becoming more religious. The Bible points us in a very different direction. God’s blessing is not earned—it is received through faith.
Galatians 3:9 tells us that everyone who places their faith in Jesus Christ shares in the very same blessing that Abraham received. That’s an incredible promise. It means that what God did for Abraham, He is willing to do for all who trust in Christ.

Abraham: A Man of Faith
Abraham is often called the father of faith. When God called him to leave his homeland and journey to an unknown land, Abraham obeyed. He didn’t have all the answers. He didn’t know every detail of God’s plan. But he trusted God’s promises.
Genesis 15:6 says,
“Abram believed the Lord, and the Lord counted him as righteous because of his faith.”
Notice what the verse does not say. It doesn’t say Abraham was declared righteous because he lived a perfect life. It wasn’t because he earned God’s approval through good works. It was because he believed God.
Faith opened the door to God’s blessing.
What Was Abraham’s Blessing?
The blessing Abraham received was much greater than material wealth or earthly success.
Yes, God prospered Abraham, but His greatest blessings were spiritual:
- He was declared righteous before God.
- He enjoyed a personal relationship with the Lord.
- God promised that all nations would be blessed through his descendants.
- He became the father of all who believe.
- He inherited God’s promises.
Ultimately, that blessing pointed forward to Jesus Christ. Through Christ, God’s promise to Abraham reaches every believer, regardless of nationality, race, or background.
Faith, Not Performance
Many people live as though Christianity is based on performance. They believe God will love them more if they pray longer, serve harder, or avoid enough mistakes.
While obedience is important, it is never the basis of our acceptance before God.
The gospel turns religion upside down.
We are not saved by what we do.
We are saved by what Christ has done.
Ephesians 2:8-9 reminds us,
“God saved you by His grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.”
Faith simply receives what grace freely gives.
What Does It Mean to Put Your Faith in Christ?
Biblical faith is much more than agreeing that Jesus existed.
It means placing your complete trust in Him.
It means believing that:
- Jesus died for your sins.
- He rose from the dead.
- His sacrifice is sufficient.
- His promises are true.
- Your hope for eternal life rests entirely in Him.
Faith says, “Lord, I trust You more than I trust myself.”
The Blessings We Share Today
Because we belong to Christ, Abraham’s spiritual blessings become ours.
We are:
- Forgiven completely.
- Declared righteous before God.
- Adopted into God’s family.
- Filled with the Holy Spirit.
- Given peace with God.
- Promised eternal life.
- Made heirs of God’s Kingdom.
These blessings cannot be bought.
They cannot be earned.
They can only be received by faith.
Living Like Children of Promise
If we truly believe God’s promises, it changes the way we live.
Faith gives us confidence during uncertainty.
Faith gives us peace in difficult seasons.
Faith helps us obey even when we don’t understand.
Faith reminds us that God always keeps His Word.
Just as Abraham continued walking with God one step at a time, we are called to trust Him daily. Our circumstances may change, but God’s promises never do.
A Faith That Blesses Others
God told Abraham,
“You will be a blessing to others.” (Genesis 12:2)
The same is true for believers today.
When we walk by faith, God often uses our lives to encourage family members, friends, neighbors, and even strangers. A life rooted in faith becomes a testimony of God’s faithfulness.
People notice when someone trusts God through trials.
They notice peace that cannot be explained.
They notice hope that remains even in hardship.
Faith becomes contagious.
Final Thoughts
The good news of the gospel is wonderfully simple.
You do not have to earn God’s favor.
You do not have to measure up before He accepts you.
Like Abraham, you simply believe.
Through faith in Jesus Christ, you become part of God’s family and receive the same spiritual blessing promised thousands of years ago. The blessing of forgiveness, righteousness, peace, and eternal life belongs to every person who trusts in Christ.
Today, choose faith over fear, grace over striving, and God’s promises over your own understanding.
The God who blessed Abraham still blesses those who place their faith in His Son.
And that blessing will last forever.
